I began my legal career in a small town in northern Manitoba. My work took me to many remote communities where court often happened in band offices, recreation centers and hydro halls. Since 2017, I have been privileged to provide legal services to young people from all over the province of BC through my work with the Society for Children and Youth of BC in Vancouver where I manage the Child and Youth Legal Centre.
I have extensive training and experience in listening to children and helping them to be heard in legal matters that affect them. Hearing from children of all ages, particularly when decisions are being made that will affect them, can lead to better decisions for families. Children have important information to share about many issues like their time with their parents and with other family members, school, and extra-curricular activities.
It can be very empowering for a child to know that they are being listened to and taken seriously and helpful to families as they work through these changes in their families. I am happy to meet with children throughout the province. I am a proud member of the Hear the Child Roster and provide those services through my private law corporation.
